He learned the trade at Domestic, the bakery of the star restaurant Dôme, and Yves Guns, big names in the bakers’ world. On the De Koninck Brewery site, Kenney Van Hoorick is now opening ‘The Bakery’. On offer: beer bread, rye sourdough bread and stone-ground bread.
‘In bread, I can channel all my creativity, even more so than in patisserie.’ Kenney doesn’t bake just any bread. He remains loyal to the rich French bread baking traditions and mainly works with sourdough, and yeast, of course.
Kenney will put a new kind of bread on the shelves every week. ‘If customers come here to buy bread every week, I want them to be able to take a different loaf home with them every time.’ The shop features a small oven that will actually be used. That way, you will smell and experience the bread as soon as you walk in.

- Saturday : 7:30am to 5pm
- Sunday : 7:30am to 1:30pm
